2017-18 Join the FINS info

Rolla Fins Swim Club, the area’s only competitive USA Swimming club, is holding tryouts for our 2017-18 short course and long course seasons. New athletes ages 5 to 18 who would like to get into the sport of competitive swimming are welcome to try out. Swimmers who already joined and were current at the end of the 2017 season do not need to try out again.

Tryouts for the 2017-18 season will be held 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, and Thursday Aug. 31, 2017, at the Missouri S&T Pool in the Gale Bullman Building, located at 705 W. 10th St. in Rolla. All interested swimmers can try out for the team. There are no requirements related to attending local schools.

Swimmers must be able to swim the full length of the 25-yard pool without stopping and will be evaluated on each of the four competitive strokes – freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly. Qualifying swimmers will be placed into a training group with other swimmers at the same skill level.

Rolla Fins Swim Club does not offer swim lessons, however some of our coaches offer private lessons. Watch this MST page for announcements. Very basic lessons are offered at The Centre in Rolla. Other area pools may have announcements for swim lessons such as the Licking Aquatic Center which offers two separate one-week Swim Camps each summer with excellent results.

For those interested in trying out for the team please download, print, fill out and bring the registration paperwork (once it has been uploaded here) with you, along with the 10 items listed on the first page of the paperwork. You will also need to print, fill out and bring the 2018 Application – Y-R Athlete form.

Returning swimmers! The paperwork you need has been emailed to the address provided when you registered for the 2016-17 season. Please print, fill out, and bring that with you Monday, August 22 or Wednesday, August 23, 2017. Please also fill out and bring the 2018 Application – Y-R Athlete form.

We will hold a mandatory meeting with coaches, parents and swimmers at 5:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8. During this meeting, coaches will discuss expectations and swimmers in Bronze, Silver and Gold will be fit for a team competition suit, which will be provided by the club.

It is very important that all swimmers and at least one parent attend this meeting.

If your swimmer is not returning this season, please let us know.
